Sebastian Tobias McShane

Sebastian got his start in video production in the late 1980s while on staff at Jones Cable and their public access channel in Lockport, New York. In the early 1990s he moved to Wilmington, North Carolina, commonly known as the “Hollywood of the South.” There he could be found on the sets of some major motion pictures including Honeysuckle Rose, Super Mario Brothers, and Sleeping with the Enemy; along with television shows including American Gothic, Young Indiana Jones, and several made for TV movies.

Over the years, Sebastian has been taught and mentored by film making greats such as Quintin Tarantino (Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs); Robert Rodriguez (El Marachi, Desperado, Once Upon a Time In Mexico), and film industry greats including Rick Schmidt (author of Extreme DV); Stu Maschwitz (author of The DV Rebel's Guide); Michael W. Dean (author of $30 Film School); Clifford Thurlow (author of Making Short Films); Chris Patmore (author of Movie Making Course); Judith Weston (author of Directing Actors); Dale Newton and John Gaspard (authors of Digital Filmmaking 101); and Brad and Debra Schepp (authors of How to make money with You Tube).

Sebastian holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina, and certificates in Business Writing and Communication and Online Marketing from the McGraw-Hill 36 Hour Course.

He is a talented writer who won a second place award from the PEN American Writing Competition in 2003, on his first attempt at entering a writing competition. He has had several articles and short stories published in National magazines including Mother Jones and OUT, and with small presses including The Urban Hiker.
